Tucker Grows!
I thought he would never catch up with those giant ears and that extra long tail but I'm amazed at how fast my kitten is growing! He eats constantly (when we let him) and continues to delight us. Here's his growth progress, in photos, over the last two weeks:

It's a wonder...
That's what the older gentleman said while scanning the newspaper headlines. "It's a wonder we don't blow up the entire planet with all of this science and technology and stuff."
He's right you know. And he's wrong. And then there's every possibility in between.
The human race has learned more in the last 50 years than it did in all of the time before that combined. Also amazing - The more we know, the more we realize how little we know.
"It's greek to me" - I often hear this idiom which is a literary way of saying "I don't get it."
We should update that phrase for this century to "It's GEEK to me". It's the scientific discoveries and the technology that continue to redefine the world around us. Nothing really changes but the hows and whys continue to evolve.
Yes. It's a wonder...
Us, the Universe and everything in it.

Back to the Business at Hand...
OK, being an artist and running a gallery was a blast. It was an exciting 10 days (actually 2 months if you count the prep time) but now I'm eager to get back to my other activities. In the next few weeks I'll start listing some of my original art in my ArtFire shop and may even have a few silly coasters completed to bring my ETSY shop back to life as well.
Efforts with our local feral cat "Trap-Neuter-Release" program are still going strong. We're up to 45 cats spayed/neutered since September 1st and hope to reach 200 by the end of the year. I'm using my creative energies to promote this program as well.
My "Gone Fishin" painting is going to be used for a t-shirt to promote the non-profit group "Feline Friends of Destin" and today I created a sign for the Village restaurant "Cabos" to help them convince their guests not to feed the feral cats that hang around there.
It's tempting to toss them table scraps but that only makes the cats more "people friendly" and can lead to trouble. I hope they like the design.
Finally, I got my first painting commission the other day - a puppy portrait. LOL, who would have thought I would ever paint dogs?!? Turns out the lady who bought this painting wants a simi
lar one of her Westie puppy!

Big Weekend
The holiday weekend is upon us and a big car show is scheduled in the shopping center where our gallery is located. We're hoping that will bring lots of people in to see our art!
Dixie's not worried, she says she's already famous enough...

Silly Cats
Tucker is settling in nicely. He let me crash on the couch with him last night. Very considerate kitten, don't you think?

Worked on another 'dressed up' pet painting last night. Tucker was a little upset that he was not the subject of this one. I had to promise him a portrait fitting his tiny 2 pound stature... the pressure's on now.

Furry Friends
This week has been crazy busy with the art gallery and the introduction of "Tucker" into our household. He has decided to keep us so we'll be making room for him and spending way too much money at Petsmart in the coming months.
I've found a little time to get a few more paintings done in time for the big car show this weekend (more traffic in the gallery we hope).
We're planning to close up and move out late Sunday so this weekend is our last chance to sell more stuff!

Meet Tucker
My newest feline friend. We're not exactly sure where he came from, someone dropped him at the vet when he was about 4 weeks old.
He got the name "Tucker" because Dr Flynn (the vet) carried him around all day tucked under her arm. He's about 8 weeks now and still weighs just 2 pounds, I'm hoping he'll get a growth spurt soon because at this rate he'll never catch up with those ears!

Tucker will be at my house for a few days interviewing for the position of "Very Important Pet". It's looking pretty good at the moment, he just stuck his nose in my ear...

Oh, what a Night!
Friday night was our grand opening party for the Art Gallery show and sale that we've been planning for the last few months. The weather was wonderful, the gallery was gorgeous, and the turn out was great! We could not have asked for a better night and it was a wonderful way to start the event. Thanks everyone for coming out to support us!
Here's a slide show of some of the photos from the big night. Enjoy!
