Some things should NOT be purchased online...

A lot of us have family members who are in rest homes. This year I saw a perfect gift for my Grandmother who is in a wheelchair and loves animals. In the Seventh Avenue catalog, page 32, I found the "Napping Kitty".

Kudos to the marketing guys, they really hooked me with phrases like "soft little critter" and "perfect companion". Sounds great, right?

When the box came and I was actually holding the Napping Kitty, there were only two words to describe it - "Road Kill". Don't be deceived by the cuteness of my photo - this is definitely one of those times when the photo is MUCH better than the real thing!
Uggghhhh... I thought "Maybe it will lose some of its creepiness when I put the batteries in and it starts purring and snoring and making other sleeping cat noises..."

Not a chance! With batteries it transformed from "Road Kill" to "Comatose Kitty". I began to imagine the confusion this strange, creepy, almost life-like fur ball might create at the rest home. As it lay there purring my mind filled with images of androids and aliens and Frankenstein and zombies...

"Napping Kitty" is now in it's original packaging and ready to go back to Seventh Avenue. Looks like Grandma is getting fuzzy socks again this Christmas...

What a funny story! I didn't know that this even existed!

How funny! It reminds me of the year my sister gave my daughter a stuffed, purring, meowing cat for Christmas. Cute idea, I guess, but we live out in the country and have too many real cats to count. I've never known why she thought her niece needed a fake cat, too. Merry Christmas!

I read this when it came in my email but couldnt come comment then lol! Im sorry that the online purchased sucked =( I agree that certain things I would not buy online, like shoes. I have to have a certain fit or else it wont work, like my parents built up some like credit for this sport shop and the only thing I could find was shoes and they looked great so i got them...and had to return them and was so sad that it didnt work. I knew then that shoes would stay off the list of online purchases
