Got Blood?

I've been thinking about Halloween lately and wondering what kind of sculptures I'd like to put in my shop. There are already a few jack-o-lanterns out there and a Halloween themed cow but I needed something really scary so I went back to work smashing clay.
I still had some glow-in-the-dark clay left from my mini moo project and I decided that might make a pretty cool vampire. To keep him from being too scary (I tend to like funny more than scary) I decided on a young, barefoot vampire. Here's the beginning of the coaster with most of his parts in place.

After I had his parts attached, I went to work on his face. The last step was to stamp "Got Blood" on his top side before putting him in the oven. Two coats of waterproof glaze and a soft foam pad on his belly and he was ready to be photographed.

The final test was to see if he really did glow in the dark. I took him to my shipping closet (very dark inside with a good shelf for photographing things) and put a bright flashlight on him for a minute or so. I then set the camera for a night shot and a shutter opening time of 10 seconds. I think he turned out pretty good!

Oh my gosh...I am now going to be like those crazy people on Black Friday...waiting at the door before it opens...he is awesome!!! And I just love the pirate...I will let him sit for 48 hrs and then if he is still there I was meant to get him. :-)
